Grant Extension Dates
The 2013-2014 Grant Extension Process will open on Monday, March 18 and close Tuesday, April
16, 2013. The application Must Be Completed by Midnight April 16, 2013.
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, Title II of which authorizes the federal Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA), expired nine years ago. Neither WIA nor AEFLA has been reauthorized by Congress. We negotiated a one-year extension of our state plan for adult education with the U.S. Department of Education in order to be able to receive and distribute federal adult education funds. As part of that process, we are authorized to extend existing Adult Basic Education (ABE) grants for another year, too.
There will be no new RFP (Request for Proposals); rather, all currently approved Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs are eligible for a one-year continuation of their current grant awards.
Request an Extension
On March 18, 2013, the Online Grant Management System (OGMS) will be available to current providers to request an extension for the 2013-2014 Program Year. Please Note: the narrative responses MUST address each of your currently approved ABE grant awards that you want to continue operating for the coming year. You will complete a separate budget application, however, for each separate grant award.
