New Teacher Orientation
The New Teacher Orientation is a five week online course designed for ABE, ESL, GED, Corrections, Family Literacy, WorkFirst, and El Civics instructors who have recently entered the field of adult education or are new to the Washington adult basic education system.
The course provides an overview of services provided, the Washington State Adult Learning Standards, Goal Setting, Equipped for the Future, and useful resources in the field.
This is also an excellent opportunity for newer teachers to develop a cohort to share ideas about adult education practices, learn about different program practices, and share teaching experiences and strategies.
Participants generally spend from 3 to 5 hours working on the course each week. Prior experience with ANGEL is not required.
Registration
Each time the course is offered, program directors receive
an e-mail with registration and course information.
