2012 Adult Literacy Week: October 15-21
Better skills. Better jobs. Building a Stronger Washington.
With the support of Governor Gregoire, this week provides an opportunity for ABE providers and partners to increase public awareness and understanding about adult basic education and the way it assists Washington state to meet its economic and workforce goals.
This project is supported by the state’s Adult Education Advisory Council and the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
Goals for Adult Literacy Week Activities
- Increase awareness of the benefits of adult basic education and its benefits to students, the community, and the state.
- Increase awareness of adult literacy programs in the community.
- Increased awareness of literacy among elected officials.
- Increased visibility of programs, both in the community and within the college.
- Raise public awareness of the challenges and issues of adult literacy.
