Generic Rubrics

A rubric is a scoring tool that describes "what counts" (e.g the criteria a student must meet on an assignment/piece of work).

The College Readiness Project developed two types of rubrics.

  • Rubrics for individual assessments. These are specific to the outcomes of that assessment. To locate them, return to the Assessments and look for the "Criteria for Evaluating" located with each assessment.
  • Rubrics at the course level. No individual assessment can measure all the outcomes of a developmental education course. Therefore, more inclusive rubrics were developed by faculty to indicate the exit-level expectations for courses in reading, writing, and math.
