Washington State Adult Education Advisory Council (AEAC)

Vision

All adults in Washington State will have access to high quality adult literacy and basic skills services that assist them in gaining the skills they require in order to:

  • access needed information,
  • take independent action,
  • express their own ideas and opinions,
  • keep up with a changing world, and
  • exercise their rights and responsibilities as family members, workers and citizens.

Mission

The Adult Education Advisory Council will work collaboratively and as individuals to ensure the availability and quality of adult literacy and basic skills services by:

  1. Influencing planning at the local, state, regional, and federal levels as they recommend goals, priorities, and outcomes to include adult literacy and basic skills learners and services.
  2. Supporting, improving and expanding partnership, collaboration and coordination among the state’s adult literacy and basic skills stakeholders, providers and external partners at every level.
  3. Advocating for adult literacy and basic skills.
  4. Identifying and helping to secure resources for adult literacy and basic skills.
