Government Relations
The Government Relations division manages state and federal government relations and communications for the state board for community and technical colleges.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Interacts with legislators, legislative and governor’s staff, agencies and associations on legislative issues on behalf of the system and individual colleges as appropriate
- Prepares a single comprehensive legislative agenda for the community and technical college system
- Coordinates legislative interaction of State Board staff and college representatives
- Coordinates system-wide messaging, communications, and media relations
- Produces tools for communications including News Links and SBCTC Legislative News
- Works jointly with colleges on marketing and outreach efforts, including Check Out a College brochure and CheckOutACollege.com
- Supports the association of college presidents (WACTC)
- Supports the association of college trustees (TACTC)
