Community and technical college Board to consider mission, budget, and acquisitions
OLYMPIA, Wash. – The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 22, and Thursday, Oct. 23, at Edmonds Community College.
During the two-day meeting, the Board will consider approving the 2008-2009 SBCTC office budget, as well as property acquisitions for Bellevue Community College and Yakima Valley Community College.
The Board will hear updates from the community and technical college system Mission Study Task Force, implementation proposals for the HECB 2008 Strategic Master Plan for Higher Education, SBCTC Information Technology Division, and legislative program.
Jack Oharah, Edmonds CC President, will give a presentation on issues related to Edmonds Community College. Kathe Taylor, Policy Director, Washington State Board of Education, will present CORE 24, the State Board of Education’s new high school graduation requirements.
The study session is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 22. Prior to the study session, the Board will meet for lunch at Arnie’s on the Water, 300 Admiral Way, Edmonds.
The regular meeting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Oct. 23. The Board will meet for dinner with Edmonds Trustees and staff in Brier Hall on Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m. No official business will be discussed.
Except for executive sessions, all meetings are open to the public and will be held at Edmonds Community College, Snohomish Hall, Room 304, 20000 - 68th Ave. West, Lynnwood.
