Trustees and presidents from Washington community and technical colleges participated in the Governance Institute for Student Success (GISS), which was held in conjunction with the TACTC Annual Business Meeting and election of officers and the TACTC awards dinner. GISS was held in lieu of the TACTC Spring Continuing Education Conference. The institute prepared trustees and presidents to set goals for improvement of student outcomes by working with expert resident faculty to analyze each college’s board effectiveness and by closely examining student success data. Institute participants also discussed the implications of a student completion focus on policies and practices and developed commitment-to-action agendas.
